Our Engagement Shoot
It's been a little while since we had a wedding planning update around here, hasn't it? Now that the wedding is less than 12 weeks away (yikes!) I thought I'd bring them back, and I'm kicking it off today with sharing some photos from our engagement shoot with the lovely Jenna Woodward. Booking Jenna was one of the first things we did wedding planning wise - her and her husband, Ewan, came with a glowing review from Amy and I loved that their photography style was much more laid-back and natural. This is definitely the vibe that we're going for with the wedding so I wanted to make sure that our photos reflected that.
We met Jenna and Ewan for a little wander along the canal to take these photos. Heading to the canal was actually Jenna's idea as she had seen me gushing about it lots on Instagram, and it really was the perfect location for us. We have lived in Rodley for over 3 years and have recently bought our first home together here, so I know that having these photos to look back on in years to come will be really special.
We were both feeling a bit nervous about the shoot beforehand but Jenna and Ewan put us at ease straight away. It helps that they are both lovely people, but they're also just very talented at what they do and understood what would make us feel most comfortable. There were no awkward serious poses or piggybacks, just lots of natural happy shots which was exactly what we wanted.
When Jenna sent over the photos I did a little happy dance at my desk - I love them. I feel like they've really captured me and Sam and I know that they'll be really precious to us in the future. They also made me feel much more confident about our actual wedding photos - I'm no longer worried that we'll feel awkward or that we won't get the shots that we want, because I know we've made a great choice in booking Jenna.
If you're umming and ahhing about having an engagement shoot, I would definitely say go for it! Not only will it help things run a bit more smoothly on the day, but hopefully you'll also be left with some photos that you just love like we have. Thanks again to Jenna for making us look way less awkward than we both are in actual life - you're a genius!
