The Ultimate Amsterdam Food and Drink Guide
Unless you've been living under a rock (or y'know, don't follow me on Instagram), you'll have seen that I spent last weekend in Amsterdam. I had the best time with two of my favourite blogging ladies, Beverley and Sam - we wandered the canals, soaked up the laid-back Dutch vibe and ate a LOT of very delicious food. From tasty brunches to yummy sweet treats, we didn't have a single bad meal and as a result I have tonnes of recommendations to share with you all!
So here is my ultimate Amsterdam food and drink guide - be warned, it might make you hungry...
BRUNCH
In my opinion, brunch is the most important meal of the day! We discovered some absolute gems in Amsterdam and I am already itching to head back with Sam to revisit them all...
The Avocado Show
So let's start with the absolute blogger fave, The Avocado Show. Every meal on the menu at this little cafe in De Pijp features avocado, including the prettiest avo toast I have ever seen (it had flowers on it!). It's a cool idea, but the execution is great too - the food is flavourful, the decor is gorgeous and the staff are super friendly.
Bakers and Roasters
This was a place that Beverley had heard about on a previous trip to Amsterdam, and I am SO glad that we managed to squeeze it into our trip. I had the best veggie breakfast ever (it had halloumi, breakfast potatos AND creamy mushrooms on it - divine!) and a super yummy juice to wash it down with. The coffee was also great and the cake looked totally dreamy if you have a sweet tooth.
Coffee & Coconuts
The first thing that struck us when we rocked up at Coffee and Coconuts was how damn beautiful it was - think bright open spaces, gorgeous decor and tonnes of plants. It was ~very~ Instagrammable! Thankfully the food matched up to the look - I had a very delicious breakfast burrito and a watermelon and mint juice that I will definitely be trying to recreate at home.
DINNER
Foodhallen
If you've read any of my other food guide posts, you'll know that I'm a huge fan of a food hall and this one was one of my all time faves! The selection of food was amazing (I had some seriously great dim sum and tacos), there was a DJing playing tonnes of 90s R&B and there was an epic gin and tonic bar - it was seriously the best place to spend a Friday night!
Little Thai Prince
SWEET TREATS
Sticky Fingers
I'd seen this place on Instagram a couple of times, and when we got caught in a torrential downpour near Vondelpark, it seemed like the perfect place to take shelter! Adorned with pink tiles and beautiful flowers, this place really is a treat for the eye, but it's the baked goods that would have me returning again and again. You have to try the banoffee pie - it's delicious!
DRINKS
SkyLounge Amsterdam
I'm of the opinion that you've kinda failed at city breaking if you haven't treated yourself to a pricey cocktail at a rooftop bar, and SkyLounge is the perfect place to do that in Amsterdam. The staff kindly brought us heated seats and blankets to keep us warm an we were treated to the most gorgeous sunset as we sipped our drinks and chatted. It was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours and the views are just beautiful.
Cafe de Prins
This was another place that Beverley had already visited on a previous trip to the city and she spoke so highly of it that we were dying to visit too! Located right on the Prinsengracht canal, this pub has a real authentic, old school feel to it. They also have outdoor seating and we ended up rocking up for a beer a couple of times during our trip.
So there you have it, my ultimate Amsterdam food and drink guide. Have you been to any of these places? Where else should be on the list?
