If we were having a coffee date, I'd tell you...

It’s been a long ol’ time since we had a big old catch up, hasn’t it? Well, today I thought I’d rectify that, and bring you up to speed with the thoughts that are bubbling around my head at the moment.

If we were sitting down for a coffee date (mine’s a flat white, what about you?), these are the things I’d be telling you…

It feels really good to be 30

While I didn’t have the big pre-30 freakout, I was feeling a little bit apprehensive about my milestone birthday. But do you know what? Being 30 feels awesome! I know it’s a cliche to say that getting older comes with more confidence and knowledge about yourself, but it’s really true. I think so often, consciously or subconsciously, 30 feels like a bit of a deadline on the horizon, and we all rush around trying to achieve as much as we can before we get there. But there’s a peace that comes with reaching that destination and realising that you can take your foot off the pedal - and boy am I enjoying that peace!

I’m having fun finding my new routine

Some of you might have seen on Instagram that last month I left my day job in order to run my coaching practice full time. After spending the last 2 years commuting up and down to London every week for work, it’s been fun to play around with my new routine and embrace the flexibility that comes with being my own boss. It’s truly joyful to be able to decide how best to spend my time each day instead of feeling glued to a desk just for the sake of it, and I’m enjoying learning more about how I work best.

Coaching is bringing me so much joy right now

Speaking of joy, the one thing that’s truly lighting me up right now is coaching my awesome clients. I’m working with such a great mix of clients right now - some are wanting to take their existing businesses to the next level, some are trying to figure out what the hell they want to do with their life, and some are simply trying to build their confidence and self trust so that they can squeeze more joy out of everything they’ve already got. But what they’ve all got in common is that they’re ready to show up and do the work, and that makes it such a pleasure to walk through this journey with them and cheer them on from the sidelines.

I’m realising that kindness is my biggest productivity hack

Something that I’ve really been learning over the last couple of months is that kindness is my biggest productivity hack. For a long time I’ve believed that in order to achieve your goals or be successful, you need to work every hour God sends, and then some. But since becoming my own boss, I’ve found the opposite to be true. When I’m kind to myself - when I prioritise rest, when I find time for exercise, when I loosen the reins a little - I produce better work, and I produce it way more efficiently. This is something I’m excited to explore a little more in the coming months, but it’s been a relief to know that I don’t have to work myself into the ground in order to make my business work.

I’m excited to start my planning for 2020

Finally, as we creep towards the end of 2019, I’m feeling really excited about starting my planning for 2020. I’ve already been working on some exciting things for my business, but I’m excited to sit down with my husband and think about everything else we want the next year or so to hold, too. I don’t believe that you have to wait until January for a “fresh start”, and you won’t catch me spouting a long list of resolutions, but there is something really lovely about thinking about the shape you’d like the next year to take, and putting some plans in place to help you get there.

So now, tell me, what’s been going on for you recently?
