Happy Friday, you lovely lot! Is it just me or do Friday’s feel even more exciting when there’s a long weekend ahead?!

I have very few plans this weekend which I am THRILLED about - I can’t wait to just potter around, lean into what feels good and maybe have some spontaneous adventures.

No matter what you’ve got planned this weekend, I hope you get to spend some time doing things that bring you joy. And if you’re looking for some ideas, I’ve got you covered - here are 9 joyful things to do during the long weekend…

1) Plant something

Late spring is the perfect time to plant something. It could be a brand new houseplant, or a new little pot for your garden, but there’s something about getting your hands mucky and reconnecting with nature that is oh so good for the soul. Plus, watching your new little plant baby thrive and grow will put a big smile on your face for months to come.

2) Dance around your kitchen

There ain’t no party like a kitchen dance party, and I’ve got the perfect playlist for you! I put this playlist together to celebrate the launch of Joy School, and I guarantee it’ll have you singing along and jiggling your hips in no time.

3) Pick some flowers for your table

There are beautiful wildflowers popping up everywhere at the moment, so why not head out for a little nature walk and pick some flowers for your table? This post here will help you to avoid picking anything you shouldn’t, but you should be able to put a little jar or two together with your findings.

4) Gather your friends

There’s nothing that brings me more joy than gathering some friends, whipping up something delicious to eat, and spending the evening laughing and catching up. It doesn’t have to be a big, formal affair, just get some pals round, open a bottle of wine, and let the conversation flow - you’ll feel all the better for it.

5) Have a screen free day

We all spend a lot of time on our phones these days, for both work and fun, so why not treat yourself to a screen free day this weekend. Put your phone away in a draw or in your bag, and notice how much more present you are when you’re not reaching for it every 5 minutes. If you still want to use your phone for photos then just switch it on to airplane mode or turn your notifications off so you don’t get distracted. I plan on doing this on Sunday and I can’t wait!

6) Get up with the sun

Make your days off last that little bit longer by getting up with the sun. Not only will you squeeze a few more hours into the day, but you’ll also get to watch the sunrise and listen to all the birds slowly waking up. It’s a very beautiful and calming way to start the day.

7) Make some elderflower cordial

It’s elderflower season here in the UK, and you can find the pretty white buds covering hedgerows and woodland areas all over the country. Why not pick some while you’re out and about this weekend and make your own elderflower cordial? This simple recipe explains the process, and once you’re done you can add a splash to a glass of prosecco for a refreshing summer drink.

8) Make some summer plans

It might be the last bank holiday weekend until the end of August, but we’re only just entering the upswing of summer and hopefully we have plenty of sunshine filled weekends heading our way. Why not spend some time this weekend making some plans for the summer months?

9) Enrol in Joy School

Finally, I couldn’t finish this post without a little plug for Joy School! Enrolment closes next Friday (31st May), and so make sure you don’t miss your spot by signing up this weekend. We’ll be getting started on Monday June 3rd, so if you want to make this summer your most joyful one yet, enrolling in Joy School is definitely one for your to do list this weekend.

What have you got planned for the long weekend?
