A joyful to do list for November
I’m struggling to believe that November is just a few days away. This was such a huge month for me last year - I left my job and turned 30 within days of each other, and travelled a fair bit too - and it’s strange to think that 12 months have passed since such a monumental season of life for me.
Unsurprisingly, this November is looking a whole lot quieter, but I still feel excited about welcoming in this new month. Festivities and traditions might look a little different this year, but I’m still determined to squeeze as much joy out of November as possible. Here are some ideas to help you do the same...
Bring the duvet downstairs for a cosy night in
Is there anything better than a super cosy night in? Bring your duvet down to the sofa, line up the movies and stockpile the snacks. For extra hygge vibes put on your fluffiest PJs and light all of your candles - bliss!
Think about what you’re thankful for
We might not celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take some time to pause this month and think about what you’re thankful for. Make a list in a notebook, talk about your favourite bits of life with friends, or simply spend an hour or so thinking about everything you’re grateful for.
Knit something
A scarf, a hat, a pair of socks - it really doesn’t matter so long as you’re moving those needles! There’s something completely meditative about knitting, and it’s one of my favourite ways to reduce the amount of time I spend scrolling on my phone during the cosy period.
Treat yourself to some new books
This time of year is perfect for hunkering down at home with a good book, so why not visit a good bookshop or browse online for a new read? It’s always nice to support an independent instead of buying from Amazon, but if you can’t get out and about, Hive is a brilliant website that supports local high streets with every sale.
Make some hot chocolate
For me, nothing screams autumn like curling up with a big mug of hot chocolate. Whether you’re warming up after a big walk in the fresh air, or simply making your night in extra cosy, commit to making some proper hot chocolate from scratch - and don’t forget the marshmallows!
Embrace a slower morning routine
November is when the days really start to feel shorter here in the UK, so why not use that as an excuse to embrace a slower morning routine? Instead of jumping out of bed and getting straight into the day, experiment with carving out a bit more time for you. I’m looking forward to staying in my dressing gown for the first hour of the day, drinking tea and journaling to my heart’s content.
Start your Christmas shopping
Getting a head start on your Christmas shopping this month means that when December rolls around, you can enjoy the festive month stress free. Make a list of the people you’d like to buy gifts for and spend some time thinking about gifts that would bring a huge smile to their face. Extra points if you stock up on your Christmas cards and wrapping paper too!
