A joyful to do list for November

Tomorrow marks the first day of November, and I’m pretty excited because that’s my birthday month! Although I think that even if my birthday didn’t fall slap bang in the middle of it, I’d still be a big fan of this month.

The smell of woodsmoke in the air, the pretty fireworks lighting up the night sky, and the creeping excitement of Christmas just around the corner - what’s not to love? As always, putting this joyful to do list together made me even more excited for the month ahead - I hope you all have a great November!

Watch some fireworks

I think my very favourite thing to do in November is wrap up warm in my wooliest hat and scarf, pull on my wellies and head out to watch the fireworks on Bonfire Night. There’s something totally magical about watching the pretty sparkles light up the sky, no matter how old you are.

Bring the duvet downstairs for a cosy night in

Is there anything better than a super cosy night in? Bring your duvet down to the sofa, line up the movies and stockpile the snacks. For extra hygge vibes put on your fluffiest PJs and light all of your candles - bliss!

Think about what you’re thankful for

We might not celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take some time to pause this month and think about what you’re thankful for. Make a list in a notebook, talk about your favourite bits of life with friends, or simply spend an hour or so thinking about everything you’re grateful for.

Knit something

A scarf, a hat, a pair of socks - it really doesn’t matter so long as your moving those needles! There’s something completely meditative about knitting, and it’s one of my favourite ways to reduce the amount of time I spend scrolling on my phone during the cosy period.

Visit a bookshop

This time of year is perfect for hunkering down at home with a good book, so why not visit a good bookshop and treat yourself to a new read? It’s always good to support an independent bookshop instead of turning to Amazon, and it makes for such a lovely experience too.

Start your Christmas shopping

Getting a head start on your Christmas shopping this month means that when December rolls around, you can enjoy the festive month stress free. Make a list of the people you’d like to buy gifts for and spend some time thinking about gifts that would bring a huge smile to their face. Extra points if you stock up on your Christmas cards and wrapping paper too!
