One year in business - what's next?

Last Friday marked a pretty significant milestone in my business - one whole year of being my own boss. I joked to my friends that I felt a bit like how I expect parents feel on their child’s first birthday - tired, changed, but oh so proud of keeping my little baby alive!

It certainly hasn’t been an easy year - I didn’t have a contingency plan for a global pandemic, funnily enough, and I’ve had to learn to pivot and adapt accordingly, but I’m so happy with what I’ve been able to achieve in the last 12 months. I’ve worked with brilliant clients, I’ve created new programmes, and I’ve gone back to uni to learn even more about this field I’m so passionate about.

If you want to hear more about what I’ve learnt in this first year of being a full time business owner, you can listen to this podcast episode where I discuss exactly that, but today I wanted to focus on what’s next for me and my business. So, let’s delve in…

One of the big things that will happen in the next 12 months is that I’ll complete my MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology. I began studying for this back in September, and all being well, I’ll graduate in July. I have LOVED this programme so far and I truly do believe it’s made me a better coach and practitioner already, and so I’m excited to see how my business changes as I continue to learn more.

1:1 coaching will always remain at the heart of what I do as there’s nothing I love more than seeing my clients transform and grow, and I’ll be taking on some new clients in January (you can join the waiting list here if you’d like to be notified when my books open again). But one thing I’ve really loved this year is working on other projects and programmes that are a little more accessible. I understand that coaching can be a big investment, both financially and emotionally, and I’ve found that by diversifying my offering a little, I’ve been able to bring my work to more people, which is such a joy.

For that reason, I’m committed to offering various workshops, projects and programmes throughout the year, all with the core purpose of helping you guys invite more joy into your lives. And the exciting news is that a few of these are already on sale, including my 2020 in review workshop, and the First 100 Days project. Both offer a great way of dipping your toe into the personal development waters and building a more positive mindset, something we could all do with right now.

Some of the work I’ve been proudest of this year has been creating my Find Your Thing and Master Your Mindset programmes, both of which will be running again in 2021. I’d also love to develop something new in this group coaching space - I’ve got a few ideas running around my mind, and of course, you guys will be the first to know when I start to flesh them out further!

What else? Well, I’ll be looking to hopefully bring a team member on board - someone who can help me share the load a little, and someone to bounce ideas around with. I’d love to do more speaking gigs and in person workshops when it’s safe to do so again, and I’ve also got a book proposal gathering dust that I want to share with some agents. And who knows what else might crop up in this second year of business - if 2020 has taught us anything it’s that none of us really know what’s on the horizon!

Thank you so much to all of you for supporting my business this year - whether that’s by working together, listening to my podcast or sharing my content. You’ve made what could have been a very challenging year feel joyful, and I am oh so grateful for that. Year two - let’s do this!
