My autumn bucket list for 2022

It’s no secret around here that I bloody love autumn. I love the excitement of the new season, and the cosy nights drawing in, and the fact that everyone dresses a little bit better when the air gets crisper. I love the fact that my birthday falls right in the middle of the season, and that there are so many little traditions to be cherished.

I like to try and write a little bucket list for each season because it helps me to be intentional and really savour all of the joy that each phase of the year brings. Plus, as we’ll have a new addition arriving mid-winter, it feels even more important than ever to make the most of this last full season before motherhood arrives!

So, without further ado, here’s my autumn bucket list for 2022…

Make our home nice and cosy

At this time of year I always feel an urge to make our home extra cosy, and this year my hormones are only making that nesting instinct even more intense! While I’d normally be satisfied with a few extra blankets and pumpkin scented candles, this year we’re going a step further and redecorating our bedroom and living room. While I’m not looking forward to our house being covered in plaster dust, I’m very excited about all the cosy nights on our new sofa that will follow!

Embrace all of my favourite traditions

I think my favourite thing about autumn is all of the little traditions that come with it. Visiting the pumpkin patch with my niece, getting all wrapped up to watch the fireworks, watching some feel good movies with a hot chocolate. This year I’m determined to embrace them all, and maybe start some new ones - what are your favourite traditions at this time of year?

Head off on a babymoon

With our baby due at the end of January, I’m fully prepared to be in hibernation mode from December onwards, but before then, my husband and I are hoping to head off on a little babymoon before then. The idea of a babymoon is to enjoy one last holiday together before the baby arrives, and we’re planning to head to Paris for a long weekend of eating, exploring and generally enjoying each other's company.

Enjoy my book launch

My book, Choose Joy, will be released slap bang in the middle of autumn, so one of my big goals for this season is to fully enjoy it! It feels like I’ve been counting down to this exciting time

for so long, and I can’t wait for the book to be finally out in the world. Plus, I’ll be heading off on a little book tour in November, so I can’t wait to meet lots of you and talk all things joy.

Cook lots of seasonal food

My husband is usually the chef in our household, but when autumn rolls around I find myself itching to get back in the kitchen. I love making roasts, soups and hotpots, and this year I’d also love to give some baking a go! I’ll be digging into recipes from my favourite cookbooks, but if you have any go-tos, let me know in the comments below.
