October is almost here, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Despite feeling a ~little~ bit cheated about the fact that 2021 seems to have disappeared before our eyes, I am more than ready to make the most of this beautiful month.

To me, October feels like the most “autumn” of all the months, with the beautiful fall colours and the crisp golden mornings that I’m sure will grace many an Instagram feed in the coming weeks. Putting this joyful to do list together made me so excited about soaking up all of the beauty that this month brings, and I hope it has the same effect on you when you read it too.

Here’s your joyful to do list for October…

Embrace the cosy

The arrival of autumn always means more time spent at home, and this year, that’s likely to be the case more than ever, so why not spend this month making it feel extra cosy? Pile the blankets high, stock up on your favourite candles and maybe even treat yourself to some extra comfy PJs. Bring on the hygge vibes…

Get your nature fix

I think this is my very favourite time of year to spend time outdoors. Nature puts on the most spectacular show throughout October, with the trees bursting into colour and the sunrises and sunsets becoming more fiery with every passing day. Make some time in your diary to get out for a walk and really notice everything that’s happening in nature - it’ll make you feel more connected to this beautiful planet that we live on.

Do some seasonal cooking

I always seem to find my cooking mojo at this time of year, which is pretty great timing as so many yummy ingredients are in season right now! On my list to try over the next few weeks are this butternut squash risotto, these cinnamon swirls, and this sausage casserole.

Start a cold weather craft project

With the arrival of the cold weather and more time spent at home, now is the perfect time to get stuck into a craft project. I’m a big fan of Cotton Clara’s embroidery kits (I completed quite a few during lockdown) and I’ve got my eye on one of Lauren Aston Designs’ epic knit kits to keep me busy during the next few months.

Have an autumn movie marathon

Make the most of the cooler temperatures and darker nights by having an autumn movie marathon. Get the blankets out, make some hot chocolate, and watch those films that truly embrace this gorgeous season - my favourites are You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, and of course, Hocus Pocus!
